Judging by the look on this poor cast member’s face, I am guessing he would rather not be standing at the entrance to Tomorrowland in a plastic helmet, surrounded by little critters! There seems to be a congregation of maintenance and security on the left!
This Spaceman from July 1965 seems much happier! Note how the Disneyland insignia is no longer on the uniform.

Oh Boy! These are incredible. The real Tomorrowland. Good to see again.
ReplyDeleteNICE!!! WOW - I remember girls wearing a dress like the girl on the right in the second photo, great pattern! What year is the 1st photo?
ReplyDeleteTim - the first one is undated; I would guess somewhere between 55-57 though.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love these photos, particularly the first one. Can you imagine how hot it could get inside that helmet, even with the hole where the face is?
ReplyDeleteNice to compare the early helmet with the later oval once. I wonder if the guy in the tool belt is a slovenly subcontractor... I think a real EM wouldn't dare be caught on stage looking like that, let alone getting caught in a photograph.
ReplyDeleteThe 1965 Spaceman could be Larry Parks. He went to Western High School in Anaheim (1966 Grad) and was a spaceman around that time. He was 6'7" to 6'8" and I got to know him at Fullerton Junior College. He was great fun always.
ReplyDeleteBarry - good to hear from you! Thanks for the info.
