Trip to Disneyland: April 1965, Pt. 3

Continuing up Main Street, our little darlings stop in Central Plaza at the Carnation Gardens just long enough for a refreshing beverage. The little girl looks like she’s ready for an audition as a Matterhorn Cast Member.

The children seem totally unenthralled with the Keystone Kop Saxophone Quartet; but that doesn’t stop these fellers from playing!

Moving closer to Tomorrowland, the family stops at the Monsanto House of the Future and then hangs out at the exit area. I will refrain from making the obvious crude comment about the oddshaped "chairs."

Dear readers, consider today a cliffhanger as I leave you with two images at the entrance to Tomorrowland. You’ll have to wait until Friday to see where the family goes, as Thursday’s blog will take a quick detour. In shot #1, the little girl has traded in her Matterhorn outfit back to the one that we saw the other day which might be appropriate for the Tiki Room.

Anybody care for a poster?

  2. Love the chairs, our local park had similar ones when I was a kid, odd & disjointed childhood memories!

Super sharp photos of the kids, too bad they don't crack a smile! Thanks Dave!

  3. I suppose if you and Pater have the money to fly in to the Magic Kingdom on a helio-coptre, you're gonna do it right and stay for a few days. Hence the wardrobe change.

I suppose the kids don't smile at the quartet cause the servants do it so much better back home.

  4. I remember my mom had a dress like the girl's blue/green number, only maybe not that short!

  5. I was wondering the same thing as Katella Gate....were these pictures taken over the course of a couple days or did the girl just routinely change her clothes throughout the day? Also, is there another boy with them? It looked like there was another kid with a crew cut and glasses sitting on the bench being "bothered" by the Keystone Cops.

I love the seating outside the HOTF....never seen pics of those before!

  6. What a great blog!
Just seeing those Carnation cups brought back a ton of memories. Let me see if I remember this correctly, the Carnation restaurant was the first restaurant on the right, just after the Main Street shops? (at the junction to Tomorrowland).
We'd get breakfast there. There was something about Carnation and breakfast.

  7. I am pretty sure that the kids didn’t have a valet with them, changing outfits during the course of one day! These photos were taken over a period of 2-3 days, but for purposes of narrative, I have arranged them in the blog by Land.

  8. That's okay Dave. It definitely makes more sense to post it that way. It would be funny though if the family was only at the park for one day and she just kept changing outfits routinely....sort of like a diva in concert.

By the way.....WONDERFUL SERIES SO FAR!!!

I love these shots. Amazing composition, unusual angles full of unexpected details, great saturation. Good stuff indeed.
