Dated March 31, 1957, these two vintage images are from the Ken-L-Ration Kids’ Amateur Dog Show. Photo #1 shows the kids with their pets, standing in the location of what is still the current Dog Kennel Area, albeit sponsored by Purina instead of Ken-L-Ration/Biskit.

I’m not sure if a homespun contest like this would fly today or generate much interest. Seems like guests today expect a lot more “wow” from Disneyland. Ah, back when life was simpler. See more vintage and current Disneyland photos at

Neat vintage Ken-L-Ration photo. Do you think the structure is the same now as in 1957? The front has obviously been changed, but I've seen it from the back and it looks pretty old.
ReplyDeleteI think I might have one or two pictures from this same series, I've always wondered if the negatives were copies or originals. I'll have to dig them out and compare, see if they're the same!
ReplyDeleteVDT: Just eyeballing it with Google Maps, it looks like it could be the same building. I'm actively trying to find out when the building that housed the old (?-2001) Guest Relations Window came into being.
