What a difference a day makes, Aug. 28, 1965 Pt. 4
Fans of the original Treehouse (The Swiss Family Robinson version) will rejoice at today’s post. Although these are a little dark, they are a wonderful visual record of the way this attraction originally looked.
Oh how these make me miss the "real" tree house! Wait, I will be at the Magic Kingdom next week, and they still have the Swiss Family Tree house!!! Boy I get excited about the silliest things! Thanks Dave!
I really miss the original tree house too. It was just crammed full of creative gizmos and creative re-use of the ship salvage. Much of the charm came from the presentation, suggesting the Robinson family had stepped out for a second and you are an early guest. It was the best kind of fantisy since it implied that this could be your world too.
The new tree house leaves me cold. It's pretty stripped-down to accommodate the new story line, but the real mood-killers are the fiberglass characters they have on display. Because that's the problem, it feels like a store window display. I don't even bother going up in it anymore - I've seen it already.
Is that a blue "Dole" sticker on one of the bananas hanging in picture 4?!
