Tomorrowland, October 1968
Our October 1968 journey will be in Tomorrowland for this post, starting off with a shot of the Submarine Voyage...pre-Nemo of course! Although it looked more military with its gray subs, once on the ride, you could immediately feel the somewhat kitschy nature of this attraction. Here are 2 early underwater decor views:
This one’s blurry, but thought I’d toss it in anyway, since The Carousel of Progress was one of my favorite attractions; seeing the centuries spin before my eyes and comparing all the household gadgets truly fascinated me. Looks like the set had been decorated to reflect the upcoming Christmas holiday.
The PeopleMover had been in full swing for over a year by this time, and was already a guest favorite. Here are some views of this attraction, the track, and the cars.

Photos 5 & 7, wow. These are great...unusual angles of the Tomorrowland I remember as a kid.
ReplyDeleteI really like the last photo -- the future all looks so brand new!
ReplyDeleteDitto what Major & Progressland said! I love the blue slurry contrasting with the blue sky in the last one! Tomorrowland looks so inviting and fun in these photo's! Thanks Dave!
ReplyDeleteThe TTA at the Magic Kingdom is one of my favorite rides. I just wish that I had been able to experience the PeopleMover. It was already gone during my first visit in 1996.
ReplyDeleteI miss old "New Tomorrowland." I won't tell you that my last visit to The Happiest Place on Earth was when "New Tomorrowland" was still there ... oops ... anyway, seeing pictures of it today compared to then...just not the same. But then neither is the Parking Lot.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you already saw this but I thought i'd share... http://www.physorg.com/news122116242.html
ReplyDeleteThe house of the future is coming back!!! I would have emailed you but couldn't find your address...
Keep up the great work, love the site!
Thanks Wader for the heads up! My email is: dvdpicasso@aol.com
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots of the old (and better) land of tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThe views seen on #5 & #7 are uncommon to say the least.
One feature from the 1967 Tomorrowland which I'm very happy they retained is the upswept, pointing facade from the Flight To The Moon.
It's nice to eat at the Pizza Port and remember what was once in its place...Since that piece of architecture is still there it's easy to orient your memories.
Thanks & take care!
