Tram and Entrance

This March 1964 shot of the Disneyland Hotel Tram also shows a 2-story structure that is also in this 2nd slide (April 1966). When I first saw this shot, I wrote it off as some other non-Disneyland building.

  1. I love the sign for Radio station KEZY that broadcast from the Disneyland Hotel in the 1960s. I have a funky little scarf with the KEZY logo and advertising figure and the Disneyland Hotel logo. Pretty cool to see the sign up on the building.

  2. In the first photo you can see the Monorail beamway, since (of course) you could board the Monorail at the hotel and go to the park. I never got to do that, but it would be awesome!

  3. Makes me want to grab a burger at the Monorail Cafe, then head over to the Neon Cactus for a beer and some football (one of my favorite PAST past times at the Disneyland Hotel) and see my favorite beer-tenders Don & Michelle (who may both still be working at the resort - Michelle was at the Hearthstone Lounge and Don is sometimes at the Lost Bar . . . .)

I miss the Monorail Cafe. Dave, have you posted any shots of the Cafe in the past?

Here's a fun little detail you may not have noticed in the first tram photo. If you look past the tram (under the word 'tram'), you will see the red steel work on the backside of the new Haunted Mansion construction. Of course there is no show building at this time, but the red girders mark the backside of the new railroad tunnel that holds the berm. Neat.

  5. Thanks for the great feedback and comments; sure makes it more fun to post this stuff when you guys share the extra history. Hrundi - unfortunately, I do not have any shots of the Monorail Cafe. I will be sure to post them if I find any.
