Back to the Cross Roads

From the first time I discovered this vintage shopping center on Sunset Boulevard I have been fascinated by it. The Cross Roads of the World just needs a little revitalization to wake it up and draw the people in. From what I have read, it appears that might be happening in the near future.

In the meantime, here's a vintage 1940's image of it:

A closer look at the Directory:

Paris and Jersey: Together Again

Only in Las Vegas would Paris and Jersey be mentioned in the same breath. The long-playing musical "Jersey Boys" was what got me back to Sin City in the first place. Who can resist the music of Frankie Vallee and The Four Seasons?

The music was incredible and the set design was right up my alley. I really loved the show.

It will be awhile before I can get those songs out of my head.

Afterwards, we took the elevator up to the Eiffel Tower restaurant for a memorable dining experience.

Once you step out of the elevator you see the kitchen where the magic occurs:

The table was by the window, affording incredible views.

The Bellagio Hotel and Caesar's Palace:

The interior was just as gorgeous.

For dinner I chose the vegetarian Wellington. Although not a vegetarian, I just didn't feel like eating the meat version, so went with this very tasty alternative.

Because of the long prep time, dessert had to be ordered ahead of time. Trust me…the caramel soufflĂ© was worth the wait!

For a very special occasion, I highly recommend The Eiffel Tower Restaurant!

Trip to Paris, Pt. Deux

Inside the spacious Calais Suite at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, it would be easy to get lost. A huge living room:

and a dining area for those who plan to cook while in town!

The bedroom was beautiful; and the TV rose up from the console at the push of a button.

A huuuuuuge bathroom:

with a bidet:

And in case you need variety when nature calls, a second bathroom is also included:

The prints on the wall resembled a contemporary version of what Toulouse-Lautrec might have created for the hotel were he still alive:

The view from the living room was incredible:

and even more magical at night:

Tomorrow a trip up the Eiffel Tower for dinner:

Trip to Paris

The Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, that is. It had been almost five years since my last trip to Vegas and I was ready for a short weekend getaway. This hotel is one of my favorites.

The theming is fantastic; although I would never think I was actually in Paris, this hotel is a lovely homage to one of the most famous cities in the world.

Let's go inside, shall we?

You can see the Bellagio hotel located directly across the street through these doors.

Time to check-in:

Signage, bestill my heart:

Pennies…what you end up taking home after gambling in Vegas.

It's easy to lose track of what time it is when you're indoors in Vegas.

View from the pool:

Plenty of restaurants to choose from:

Beautifully detailed interiors:

I will leave you at the hotel suite door until next time!

Oom Pah Pah in Fantasyland

A little Oom Pah Pah to start off the work week courtesy of Disneyland's Matterhorn Band. This August 1962 image shows the positioned between the Matterhorn and the Fantasyland Autopia.

The two boys in this detailed view look mesmerized.

Here's a previously posted November 1963 shot of Fred Burri, Disneyland Yodeler:

And a July 1968 of the Band outside the back of the Castle:
