Scary Chateau!

Just in time for Halloween...this October 1987 image of the Chateau Marmont features two charming young gents. From the vintage publicity blurb:

Oct. 25, 1987 — HEARSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR — W. Miller Maurer, left, and Greg Smith pose in front of one of their "Grave Line Tours' feature attractions — the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood, where comedian John Belushi died from a drug overdose in 1982. The two entrepreneurs have taken a rather macabre turn from the basic Hollywood tourist circuit by offering visitors "a lively look at the deathstyles of the rich and famous."

Compare and contrast with this contemporary image; not all that different looking. Hooray for that.

I know Greg Smith. He can tell non-stop stories of the darker side of Hollywood - and always with a humorous spin or turn of a phrase.
