1957 Disneyland Home Movie

Thanks to my good friend Christy, I am able to share this rare footage from 1957 of her family's trip to Disneyland. Lotsa' good stuff to see here!

More vintage (and current!) Disneyland photos at my main website.

That covered quite a bit. The Frontierland footage was really cool! Very nice! Thanks to your friend Christy for sharing it and thanks to you for posting it, Dave.

Extremely cool. Nothing I see all day will top this.

Some rare 'captures' there! The fleeing bear on the Frontierland ridge line and the resting Rinoceros in the Jungle Cruise are especially noteworthy. And... is that blue vested character one of the early Fantasyland Knights? Appears to be! Thanks for the look!

Oops - left an 'H' out of Rhinoceros!

What a treasure to see the 'original' park. Remember that back in those days there was nothing else like it around...it was so fresh, new and exciting to be there. I used to count the months before my parents and I could go. I think that was in 1958. Also, good to see that the CMs of the day were also having a good time! KS

I love that the film starts with Trinidad Ruiz, Disneyland's very own White Wing. That's a nice tribute.

Thanks for sharing this, Christy. I'm so glad that your family was willing to splurge on 8 minutes and 49 seconds of home movie film - I think my family's grand total of DL/WDW film footage from 8 visits runs less than three minutes of screen time.

There are so many wonderful things to see in this film! I think it is best appreciated if it is slowed down to a least half speed which is easily done by clicking on the "gear" icon and selecting .5 or even .25 speed.

When my mom showed this to me, I knew that Dave would love it! It only took me like 4 years to get it to him! My Grandma and Grandpa traveled with my mom and her 3 younger siblings across the USA from Indiana to visit family in LA. They made many stops along the way (have vintage Vegas footage too). The highlight of the trip was Disneyland of course. My mom and her family can be seen briefly in the movie. I'm so glad that everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!
