1956 Tomorrowland Panorama

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, I was able to combine two consecutive shots of Disneyland's Tomorrowland from October 16, 1956 into ONE amazing panoramic view!

On the left, we can see the entrance to Circarama, which is where Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters is currently located.

On the right is the Monsanto Hall of Chemistry, the present home of Star Tours:

Very cool! Sometimes these just don't work out, but these two knit together surprisingly well.

It's weird. I tried to leave a comment on this article last night and an error came up and the article dropped out completely.

Anyway, fantastic job on merging the Tomorrowland entrance images. I can really appreciate the design a bit more with a wide shot like this. Also, never noticed the water stains on the walls from the fountains before.

I often wonder if they got their inspiration for all the flags strung up in Tomorrowland from a used car sales lot.

This came out beautifully, and as Mr Martinez says above, it really gives you a better sense of space and overall design than a standard 35mm slide or negative would.

My favorite detail is actually the guy in the gray shirt who shows up twice in this composite image. He's closest to the camera on the left side of the picture, just over your watermark, and is also in the right half of the picture, standing next to a child underneath the Monsanto sign on the Hall of Chemistry. Either that or it's his identical twin cousin.

Great job, Dave. Really special.

Did you use the flagpole as a separator? I notice the sky tone is slightly different. Also the pole is full height through the pic.

Outstanding, Dave.

As K. Martinez points out early Tomorrowland had a serious thing for flags!

I also never got the pun in the name Circarama until just now, what with the difference in letter colors. I always thought it was just a funny spelling. And I never remember reading about it being sponsored by American Motors.

JG - I plugged both images into Photoshop and let the auto merge function do its magic. I tried to get the colors to match and then got bored...
