Shriners and Boagaloons

This shot of two Shriners exiting Adventureland into the Central Plaza area of Disneyland reminded me of a few images that I've had in my collection for years.

Here are four images I have that show the Shriners enjoying a picnic at Holidayland, also from June 1960. What are the chances?

In this detailed view, you can see the balloon headdress of this guest:

In the first photo from today's post, you can see a boy with balloons as well (with a White Wing in the foreground); these appear to be Boagaloons from Wally Boag at the Golden Horseshoe Saloon:

Here's Wally on stage with his Boagaloons:

Cool to see the pre-Tiki Room Adventureland entrance as well as rarely seen Holidayland.

The Wally Boag/Betty Taylor era seems so long ago now. Hopefully the Golden Horseshoe will get another act in there on the level of The Golden Horseshoe Revue or Billy Hill & Hillbillies, both of which I think were classics in their own time.

Thanks, Dave

The current act in Golden Horseshoe is just not holding up the tradition of the GH very well. Thanks to your post the other day I read up on John Waite and now understand his connection to HolidayLand. Nice to see more pics in action of it. Thanks.
