56 Years Ago Today: The Australian Miler

On May 16, 1958, Australian miler Merv Lincoln visited Disneyland, driving down Main Street, U.S.A. in a Horseless Carriage, accompanied by Bill Pizzi. This image can be found in the USC Digital Library Archive. Lincoln was an Australian middle-distance runner who won a silver medal in the mile run at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games and twice competed in the Summer Olympic Games. Track & Field News ranked Lincoln as second in the world for 1958.

Looked it up and Merv's still alive and 80. Guess that running did him some good.
