Ouiji Boards at Disneyland!

As with so many images, this October 1963 view is most interesting for its details. On the left is the King Arthur Carrousel, and on the right is Merlin’s Magic Shop. Zooming in, you can see a little nerd in the making. Mom and dad use over the poor little boy and attempt to help him with his camera. How about the stylish lady on the left with the teal capri pants and her not-so-stylish companion wearing white socks and sandals!

Zooming into the Merlin's window, you can see a Ouija board (black magic at Disneyland!) as well as a Troll Doll. In the other window in the lower left are the “Sucker Die Box” (a magic trick where the audience was led to believe they figured out the trick but didn’t), and a Jerry Mahoney ventriloquist doll.

Here's what Jerry Mahoney looks like along with ventriloquist Paul Winchell:

Excuse me while I head over to Fantasyland for a little shopping!

What gets me is the footwear everyone is wearing. None of the shoes look comfortable for long term walking. Even the kids shoes look uncomfortable for Disneyland walking.
