1960’s Batch: Pt. 3

YOU ARE THERE...sitting in your brand-spanking-new square Skyway bucket, flying over the Chicken of the Sea Pirates Ship, Skull Rock, and Small World off in the distance. Obviously, this set is at least 1966 since SW appears to be completed. Shot 2 is another view from the Skyway over Fantasyland, with the Matterhorn in the background.

See more vintage Disneyland Skyway photos on my main website.

I love how nice and new the square buckets are in pic 2, looks like the Skyway is running at full capacity too. Was there ever and “official” reason they took it out?

Confession time: I committed a minor sin this Monday at DL, I stepped over the chain and walked up (the exit) to the old Skyway Chalet (there are no lawyer signs saying not to), I made it all the way to the entrance, no one even saw me. It’s lovely up there, they really should do something with that area (No meet and greet thank you!). Or at least they should take down the chains and let you walk up there, what can it hurt?

Thanks for the neato Skyway photo’s!

Well, embarrassment time also.... It was so windy I left my camera at the hotel room!!! Rats! And it wasn’t really that windy up there either, by the time I realized I could try my cell phone camera, I chickened out and went back down.

Hey If I did it, someone else can too! I think the low crowds and winds helped me go un-noticed.....

Too funny - this morning, as I stepped off Casey, I looked up at the Skyway Station in Fantasyland and though...nobody's really looking...yet I decided against it. One of these days...
