Chicken of the Sea, 1950s

Here are two undated photos of the venerable (but now defunct) Chicken of the Sea/Jolly Roger Pirate Ship Restaurant. Althought the second one took a lotta’ lovin’ to bring back any color to it, I still love the detail of the rear of the ship.

For Disneyland Fan, I am also including a closeup of the Souvenir Stand from yesterday .

For the Major, I am finally posting a closeup of the Dog Show:

The Chicken of the Sea pirate ship is indeed defunct, but I liked it better when it was funct.

Love that closeup of the souvenir stand. Keppy Kaps ahoy! Is that nun shoplifting??

I love the 2 nuns. I was immediately reminded of the fact that -

Herb Ryman used to have 2 nuns in a lot of his Disney park concept art as an homage to a favorite famous painting- I'm too lazy to spend more than 10 minutes on Google to find an example or figure out what the original painting was.

I went to two (maybe three?) Ryman Foundation fund raising breakfasts at Club 33 and it was brought up and pointed out in several examples each time.

Herb would include the side-by-side nuns walking amongst the regular park guests he had painted.

Wish I could find examples.

Can anyone add more and clear up my memory of this?

Thanks for the souvenir CU. Wish I could step in and make few purchases!
